What is the new Costa 580™ Rx sun lens program?

Costa’s patented premium polarized 580™ lens blocks light at 580 nanometers on the light spectrum. The result for consumers is unparalleled visual clarity, the highest levels of polarization efficiency and razor sharp color enhancement.

Costa will make its new 580™ Rx sun lens program available to consumers in March 2011.

Why is the Costa 580™ Rx sun lens unique?

Costa’s proprietary 580P Rx lens is unmatched in the optical market. Its patented technology to block yellow light – the most harsh light – at 580 nanometers on the color spectrum, creating exceptional visual clarity. It features C WALL, a highly specialized, oleophobic and hydrophobic coating to make it as virtually scratch resistant as glass, while repelling water, oil and dust.

With the expansion of the 580 lens line, Costa was able to create a 580 Rx sun lens program using the company’s proprietary Trivex material® and in Costa’s proprietary glass material.

While there are other sunglass brands Rx lens available (and even Costa has offered Rx lenses in its polarized 400 lens technology since 2002), Costa’s 580™ premium polarized lens technology is the only one to block light to such a degree it achieves the highest level of polarization efficiency.

When will the Costa 580 Rx lenses be available?

Eyecare practitioners (ECPs) may start ordering Costa’s 580™ Rx sun lenses in March 2011. The company will formally introduce the new Costa 580™ Rx sun lens in booth 2267 at International Vision Expo East March 18 – 20, 2011, at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York.

How can ECPs order Costa’s 580 Rx lenses?

Until now, ECPs ordering Costa’s 400™ Rx lenses worked through a third-party optical processing lab. Now, ECPs will be able to contact Costa directly by sending a fax to 855-267-8280 or by email at costarx@costadelmar.comto place their Costa prescription order. ECPs can call 855-COSTARX (855-267-8279) for more information about the Costa 580™ Rx sun lens program.

Costa will have licensed optical staff onsite to assess every Rx order before it is hand-assembled into the frame and sent to the ECP to dispense. This new process be more efficient and streamlined, and will provide more quality assurance for both the ECPs dispensing Costa frames and lenses and Costa.

Where can consumers order Costa’s 580™ Rx sun lenses?

Consumers will be able to order Costa’s 580™ Rx sun lenses through authorized ECP offices. Consumers can find an ECP nearest them by visiting www.costadelmar.com, clicking on ‘Dealer Locator,’ and searching for the office with the Rx logo next to the name.
